My wife had transmission problems on our suburban and I “the husband” am 4 hours away. She called Tom’s and they said bring it in and we will look at... it. Tom himself looked at it without hesitation and diagnosed the issue. Fixed it to be driveable and printed out the report for my wife for our own mechanic back home. Couldn’t thank them enough for their speediness and professionalism. She was in and out in under 15 minutes. Faster than an oil change with a much larger issue. Amazing! My cars maintenance required light came in. I'm from out of town and was shipping my car out of state so I needed service fast. Placed a call to get... seen right away and was told we could. I cannot recommend this place enough. These guys are super honest. I went in there with a list of things wrong the dealer identified about my well... taken care of but 11 year old Honda Element and they were able to let me know what was and what was not legit. I put new brakes on the vehicle and it's working great. I had my catalytic converter stolen a while back and my vehicle has had an un-resolvable check engine light even after cat replacement and several*** replacements of the O2 sensors (long story). Honda wanted me to pay several thousand to look into the electrical (ECM/PCM replacement $$$) ... Tom's basically said this was not something they could do... but they said if you are willing... try to replace the O2 sensors one more time with factory OEM parts and see if that does it. 500 miles later it worked. Saved me so much money. I recommend them to everyone. Heading there soon with my other vehicle thanks Tom's!read more

Tom’s just gets it. I had been taking my car to a dealer to be serviced for years. Every time I took it in, they found something in the $500-$1000... range that needed to be fixed in addition to the requested service. The last two times were $1500 and then $5500. I took it to Toms for a second opinion both times, and they clearly explained what the issue was, how urgently it needed to be fixed, and what their approach would be to fixing it if they deemed that it was critical. They treat you like a customer and not like an ATM. They understand the value of the car and work with you to determine what repairs make sense. Now, for all of my routine maintenance and any issues I have out of warranty, I go directly to Tom’s!read more

TOMS SAVED ME THOUSANDS! MOST HONEST IN WEST SEATTLE! After getting totally bamboozled by a place in West Seattle that has hundreds of good reviews,... I was at a loss of what to do. Finally I took my little Hyundai to Tom's. First of all, its literally the cleanest shop I've ever seen in my life. Like Truman Show movie clean. Then the guys are so sweet and patient. They did what any of the actually 3 mechanics that had looked at my car could have done, a simple cheap dye test to see exactly where the oil leak was going. One place that had worked on my car on Roxbury had told me it was fixed. I left with plans to go on a little road trip and went to get some supplies and saw the car was smoking and leaking oil. Took it back they said " oh I see there is another leak, for $1200 we'll fix it for good this time " yeah right, I said no thanks, so Tom's knew this and all along any of the places ( The place on Roxbury was the 3rd ) could have done this simple dye test for $30.00 with tax. Toms told me after the dye test what I had a feeling about-the car was not worth putting any more money into. THey could have poo pooed me and let me waste more money but they were honest. Take your car to Tom's, you might think that these other little Ma and Pa shops are good because they are full ad busy but why take a chance that you'll just get lied to? Tom's hasn't been here 40 plus years for no reason!read more

The A/C on my CR-V stopped working. I was able to take my car in the same day I called and they diagnosed the problem within about 10 minutes. My car is older, a 2005 PT Cruiser and from what I was told by a previous mechanic not the easiest to work on. Tom's has kept it running very good... since I started taking it there, much better than before. The professionalism and customer service are top notch as well. Never had one interaction that I could say was off or bad. And I love the lockbox option for your key if you have to pick up your vehicle after hours. I've lost my back up key so the lockbox was a lifesaver. Call or email them when you need something done. You'll be happy you did.read more

It is with pleasure that I share my experience with Tom’s Automotive in West Seattle. In expedited response to the service engine light indicator I... drove to their reliable and expert shop. They were kind enough to take the time to read the codes and source the issue to low radiator fluid. I had just had BMW Seattle perform an oil service and complete top off of fluids a few days ago, which they obviously failed to do! Obviously I was unable to schedule the oil service with Tom’s due to my schedule. Tom’s Automotive service to the rescue! They are simply the BEST at what they do!read more

I went to Tom's yesterday to get my car diagnosed and it was a great experience. First, they were all booked with appointments but they still said to... come by and they would try and get me in. Within 10 minutes, they informed me what the issue could be, looked up the warranty on my car and instructed me on how to talk to the dealership to get the issue fixed. I tried Tom's after years with another shop. The other shop's service had deteriorated over time and I could no longer trust them to do the right... thing for my car and for me. The Tom's Automotive Service team is warm, friendly and most importantly, competent and honest. They first did an assessment of the car. I got a flat tire across the street from Tom's Automotive. Although they don't repair tires, they immediately sent over a technician to change my... tire. I always take both my company vehicle and personal vehicles directly over to Tom's whenever I need issues taken care of...except for that one time I... had to change a headlight in my Yukon. After struggling with trying to figure out how to take it out, I watched a YouTube video and followed all the steps. It turns out that you cannot simply take the headlight casing out, but you need to take the grill off first, then take the wheel well liner off (which I successfully completed) and then there is a hidden screw that needs to be removed. You cannot see this screw because it is tucked away behind the frame, and a standard socket wrench head is too large and will not work to remove. Feeling defeated, I called Tracy. He said to come on by and they took the screws out for me and helped replacing the headlight. I told him I wanted to at least pay something for the service but he refused to accept anything. These guys have always been good to me, and I appreciate their hard work and honesty.read more
