Neighboring Systems in Your Vehicle: Air Conditioning & Heating

These two systems actually share the same “home” under the hood, but they are very different systems. Literally, the difference between “hot & cold”.

Kind of like two different families who live next to each other in a duplex-type of property. They are connected in housing, but different in operation and function.

They share

The air conditioning and the heating systems share the vent system in your vehicle, similar to the way your air conditioner and your heater share the vent system in your home.

Testing, testing

When you bring your vehicle in for servicing, we test how well each system is operating. We use a temperature probe at the vents to measure how hot the heater runs and how cool the air conditioner blows.

We also test the temperatures during a road test with all of our services, from oil changes to some of the bigger service inspections (like 30k or 60k appointments).

In the winter we do test the air conditioning because it enhances the defroster’s effectiveness by drying the damp air in the passenger cabin.

Spring and Fall are great times to have both heating and air conditioning system temperatures tested.

Schedule your vehicle to get the temperatures tested on your heating and air conditioning systems.

What I appreciate most about Tom's Auto in West Seattle is their level of customer service. Compared to a dealership shop, their personal attention to details like explaining the list of items your car needs in order of priority helps to break it down and not be overwhelmed. Yes, car repairs can add up, but their approach makes it palatable. It puts us in the position to prioritize what to take care of first. They are experts in auto repairs and customer service!

High end auto repair in West Seattle. Professional, white glove kind of service. Seem to know what they're doing. Shuttle available. The two times I've been there have been positive experiences. Not cheap, but not outrageous by any means.
Would recommend.
